William of Newton Creek, New Jersey

William of NJ was a Quaker who had left England due to persecution, going to Wicklow, Ireland. Here he ended up in jail for his beliefs. In 1671 he bought of William Penn, land in West NJ. In 1675 he settled at Newton, opposite Philadelphia PA. He died in 1700.
